Tokyo is currently experiencing rain showers disrupting the normal movement of everyone living there. Amidst this seemingly eternal rain, runaway high school student Hodaka Morishima, who struggles to support himself financially, ends up with a small-time publisher job. While orphan Hina Amano also tries to find work to support herself and her younger brother. The two fates intertwine when Hodka attempts to save Hina from the shadowy men, deciding to run away together. Next, Hodaka learns that Hina has a strange but surprising power: the ability to invoke Surya whenever she prays. Considering Tokyo’s unusual weather, Hodaka sees the potential for this. He suggests that Hina should become a “Sunshine Girl” – who will clear the skies for people when they need it the most. Things first start looking for them.
