In times of need, if you look in the right places, you might see a strange telephone number written in red. If you call this number, you will hear a young man introducing himself as Yato Bhagwan. Yato is a minor god and self-proclaimed “Delivery God”, who is the dream of millions of worshippers.

However, without a single temple dedicated to his name, his goals are far from realised. He spends his day doing odd jobs for five yen, until his comrade-in-arms gets fed up with his useless boss and abandons him. Just as things seem to be turning dire for God, his fortunes change when a middle school girl, Hiyori Iki, saves Yato from a car accident, and takes the hit for him. Remarkably, she survived, but the incident caused her soul to become looser and hence able to leave her body. Hiyori demands that Yato return her to normal, but when he learns that he needs a new partner to do so, he reluctantly agrees to help her find a new partner.
