Kazuya Kinoshita is a 20-year-old student who has a wonderful girlfriend: the bright and sunny Mami Nanami. But suddenly he doesn’t. Without warning, Mami breaks up with him, leaving him completely heartbroken and alone. Seeking to ease the pain, he hires a rental girlfriend through an online application. His partner is Chizuru Mizuhara, who, thanks to her unparalleled beauty and cute attitude, manages to win Kazuya’s affection.

But after reading about similar experiences other customers had with Chizuru, Kazuya thinks her warm smile and caring personality was just an act to play with her heart, and he misjudges her. Aggravated, Chizuru castigates him for his shameless hypocrisy, revealing his sassy and hot-tempered true self. This one-sided exchange is cut short, however, when Kazuya discovers that his grandmother has collapsed. They rush to the hospital and find Kazuya’s grandmother already in good condition. Bewildered by Chizuru’s presence, she asks who that girl might be. Impulsive, Kazuya quickly declares that they are lovers, forcing Chizuru to play the part.
