For the first time since graduating from high school, 30-year-old Moriko Morioka is unemployed and she couldn’t be happier. After quitting his longtime job of over 11 years, Moriko quickly turns to online games to pass his now plentiful free time, reinventing himself as the handsome and dashing male hero “Hayashi” in the MMO Seafood. With the pesky societal obligations of the real world out of the way, she happily dives headfirst into the gambling realm, where she soon encounters the kind and lovable healer Lily.

Befriending almost instantly, the two become inseparable just as Moriko herself becomes increasingly engrossed in her new “life” as Hayashi. Eventually, Moriko embraces the reclusive lifestyle in full, only venturing out of the safety of her apartment when absolutely necessary. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Moriko, a shy 28-year-old corporate employee named Yuuta Sakurai has also logged into Fruits de Mer from across town. Coincidentally, bumping into each other at the convenience store one night, both view their encounter as nothing more than another awkward encounter with a stranger – however, fate has more in store for them than they realize.
