As a child, Moritaka Mashiro dreamed of becoming a mangaka, like his childhood hero and uncle, Taro Kawaguchi, the creator of a popular gag manga. But when tragedy strikes, he gives up on his dream and spends his middle school days studying, aiming to become a salaried man instead. One day, his classmate Akito Takagi, the school’s top student and aspiring writer, sees detailed drawings in Moritaka’s notebook.
Seeing the enormous potential of his artistic talent, Akito contacts Moritaka, proposing that they become a mangaka together. After much persuasion, Moritaka realizes that if he is able to make a popular manga series, he will be able to get a girl he likes, Miho Azuki, to participate in the anime adaptation as a voice actor.
