The musical human metronome accompanies the path of prodigious pianist Kousei Arima. But after his mother, Saki Arima, passes away, Kousei falls downstairs, unable to hear the sound of his own piano. Two years later, Kousei still avoids the piano, shrugs off his admirers and rivals, and lives a colorless life with his friends Tsubaki Sawabe and Ryuta Watari.
