The shamisen is a traditional Japanese musical instrument that looks like a guitar. The grandfather of teenager Sawamura Setsu who raised him with his older brother Wakana, recently died. His grandfather was one of Shamisen’s greatest players and both siblings grew up listening to him play and learning to play the instrument.

Since their grandfather died, Setsu dropped out of high school, moved to Tokyo, and drifted off, not knowing what to do but play his Shamisen. That’s when his successful and wealthy mother, Umeko, bursts into his life and tries to shape Setsu. She re-enrolls him in high school, but Setsu is unaware that he is about to rediscover his passion for Shamisen. (Source: MU, edited)
