Hunter X Hunter is set in a world where hunters exist to perform all kinds of dangerous tasks such as catching criminals and bravely searching for lost treasure in uncharted territories. Twelve-year-old Gon Freaks is determined to become the best Hunter he can in hopes of finding his father, who was a Hunter himself and abandoned his young son long ago. However, Gon soon learns that the path to his goals is more challenging than he ever imagined. On his way to becoming an official Hunter, Gon befriends the vivacious doctor-in-training Leorio, the vengeful Kurapika, and the rebellious ex-assassin Killua. Together to achieve their own goals and desires, the four take the Hunter Exam, which is notorious for its low success rate and high probability of death. Throughout their journey, Gon and his friends embark on an adventure that puts them through many hardships and struggles.
