In Japan’s far northern land of Hokkaido, Sugimoto survived the Russo-Japanese War of the Meiji era. Nicknamed “Sugimoto the Immortal” during the war, he now seeks the riches promised by the gold rush in hopes of rescuing the widowed wife of his deceased companion from the war.
While searching for gold, he comes across hints of gold being hidden by corrupt criminals. Partnering with an Ainu girl who saves her life from the harsh climate of the north, they embark on a survival adventure on a run against criminals seeking a hide-and-seek. (source: manga update)
